WEEE Disposal Information

Separate collection.

This symbol means the product must not be discarded with the general household waste. There is a separate collection system for these products.

  • Should you want to dispose of this item please do not put it with the household waste. Used electrical and electronic equipment and batteries must be made available for separate collection.
  • Electrical products may contain toxic materials such as lead or cadmium. As a single item this may pose little threat to the environment; however the UK disposes of at least 1m tons of electrical waste/year and much of this ends up in landfill. There is then a serious risk from toxins leaking into the water supply. Separate collection allows these toxins to be removed.
  • Separate collection also allows materials to be recovered and recycled. The earth’s natural resources are limited. Recycling materials helps reduce the demand on our natural resources.
  • Private households may return their used electrical and electronic equipment to designated collection facilities free of charge. Identify where your local collection points are and return the product there. (Facilities are usually available at the municipal waste site, or your local authority may provide separate collection from the house.)
  • Alternatively we offer a like for like take back option for our customers i.e. if you buy an extension reel/lead from us then you may only return an extension reel/lead and not a kettle. Post the item/s to: -

    Penguinsupplies
    PO Box 550
    Northwich
    CW9 9EU

All the items returned will then be sent for recycling.
  • By disposing of this product correctly you will be providing positive help to the environment.

Waste Batteries and Accumulators Disposal Information

Separate collection.

This symbol means the batteries must not be discarded with the general household waste. There is a separate collection system for them. The letters Pb, Cd or Hg indicate the presence of heavy metals lead, cadmium or Mercury.

  • Should you want to dispose of this item please do not put it with the household waste. Used electrical and electronic equipment and batteries must be made available for separate collection.
  • Several hundred thousand tonnes of industrial and portable batteries and accumulators are placed on the Community market every year. They incorporate a wide range of metals from mercury, lead and cadmium to nickel, copper, zinc, manganese and lithium.
  • Disposing of the waste from these products pollutes the atmosphere (in the case of incineration) and contaminates the ground and water (in the case of landfill or burial). Through recycling it will be possible to reduce the environmental pollution from this waste and enable the recovery of thousands of tonnes of metals, including precious metals like nickel, cobalt and silver
  • Private households may return their used batteries and accumulators to designated collection facilities free of charge. Identify where your local collection points are and return the product there. (Facilities are usually available at the municipal waste site, or your local authority may provide separate collection from the house.)
  • Alternatively we offer a like for like take back option for our customers i.e. if your product is delivered with a P9 battery then you may only return a P9 battery and not an AA. Post the item/s to: -

    Penguinsupplies
    PO Box 550
    Northwich
    CW9 9EU

All the items returned will then be sent for recycling.
  • Under the Waste Battery Regulations, Penguin Supplies are now offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries. You can return your waste batteries to our business premises in person (PLEASE DO NOT POST).
  • Alternatively, you can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com
  • Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points. End-users may find stores in their local area more accessible.
  • By disposing of this product correctly you will be providing positive help to the environment.
